Venus Williams and the Philadelphia Freedom outlasted the Washington Kastles 23-16 in the home team's first match in their new stadium at CityCenter DC.

Scott "Boom Boom" Oudsema fired six aces over the net as the standing-room only crowd cheered on. Oudsema lost the mens' singles set in a close contest. Olga Puchkova won a remarkable 100% of her first serve points and scored an ace against 2009 Wimbledon runner-up Venus Williams. Leander Paes and Rennae Stubbs faced off against Venus Williams and Nathan Healey in an entertaining mixed doubles set. Paes won 83% of his first serve points in a losing effort 5-3.

The Washington Kastles next home match is July 12 when they take on the 2008 WTT defending champs New York Buzz.
