Montgomery County: First Caribbean American Heritage Month kicks off

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will kick off Caribbean American Heritage Month with a special celebration featuring a panel discussion and a community reception. The event will include Caribbean art, music and food today June 1 from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Executive Office Building lobby level auditorium, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville.
Leggett will issue a proclamation designating June as Caribbean American Heritage Month. The panel discussion will cover Caribbean American culture and concerns, and will include members of the County Executive's Caribbean American Advisory Committee. Paintings by the former St. Lucian Ambassador and artist, Dr. Joseph Edmunds, will be on exhibit.
The reception is sponsored by Howard University Institute of Intellectual Property and Social Justice and by Zane Networks of Silver Spring.
Parking is available at the public parking garage located at the corner of Jefferson and Monroe streets. For more information, call the Office of Community Partnerships at 240-777-2504.
