The Maniacs had everything to lose Saturday when they took on the Saginaw Sting at the Showplace Arena. The Maniacs five-game winning streak was on the line and a chance to move one step closer to a coveted division title hung in the balance. After two first quarter scores by the Sting offense, the Maniacs defense dug in and left the Sting quarterback tandem dead in the water. Emotions were high, but the Maniacs kept their focus and won in a blowout 40-13.
Overton returned a kick for a touchdown in first to get Maniacs on the board. Quarterback Bryson Spinner connected on 15 of 25 attempts including 2 touchdown passes to Terry Moss. Darryl Overton contributed 65 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.
With five sacks, two safeties, a pair of interceptions, a fumble recovery and a deluge of solo tackles, the Maniacs defense racked up stats in almost every category.
The Maryland Maniacs (6-2) are just one game behind the division-leading River City Rage (7-2). The Maniacs face the Rochester Raiders at the Showplace Arena on Saturday, May 23. For more information about the Maniacs, visit marylandmaniacs.com.
