Prince George's County: County forum invites small, minority-owned business to win contracts
Issue date: 4/5/09 Section: Neighborhood
Prince George's County Council Members Tony Knotts (D) - District 8, and Samuel H. Dean (D) - District 6, co-hosted a local business forum last Thursday for small and minority-owned businesses, in Oxon Hill, MD.
The free event provided new information for local and minority-owned businesses interested in increasing their capability to win competitive contracts for construction and other work and services at the $4 billion National Harbor project, and other major projects throughout Prince George's County. The new opportunities are included in National Harbor bond legislation recently adopted by the County Council. The agreement between the County and National Harbor developer, The Peterson Companies, commits the developer to award a minimum 15-percent of new construction work to minority contractors in the County.
