The Thanksgiving turkey is still giving you that sleepy feeling, football and Christmas movies dominate the television schedule, and somehow shoppers are crowding the malls looking for that perfect present.

It's a fantastic mixture of festivity and frustration - frustration from the U.S. and world economic melt down. But families around Silver Spring, Maryland's downtown mall are out and about shopping for Christmas trees, greeting cards and holiday season gifts.

Choirs are practicing Christmas hyms and kids rushing to get free pony rides while cars are blowing their horns to warn careless pedestrians. It's all part of "Tis the C-Son," a month-long series of events, featuring concerts, carriage rides, cocoa and cookies (compliments of Eggspectation), crafts and a coat drive.

On Saturday on the Plaza lunch with Santa at Ceviche is planned at noon and 2 pm. Other attractions include live jazz bands, singalongs with Frost, and crafts with Pyramid Atlantics.

The Plaza will also host performances on December 20 featuring Montgomery Blaire High School chamber choir.
