After registering hundreds of Howard University students and helping them cast their absentee ballots, the Howard University Allied Health Sciences Student Organization will offer a third, and last chance for out-of-state residents to vote in the upcoming presidential campaign.

Students and local residents who are either unregistered or are registered in other states can register and cast their out-of-state ballots from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2., in front of the university's Allied Health Sciences building at 6th and Bryant streets.

Carolynne King, an Allied Health Sciences student who organized the effort, said 452 students and some non-students from states across the nation cast ballots during the students' registration two weeks ago.

"It was really good, and that's why we want to do it again," said King, a senior majoring in health management.  "But this time we want more, hundreds more.  This could be one of the most important elections of our lives, and we want students to register their vote in their states."

The students are mailing the ballots back to the home states at no cost to the voters.  Smith urged students to cast their ballots this week.

"We are very, very close to the cutoff for registering and voting in some states," Smith said.  "I don't think anyone wants to say he or she didn't vote in this historical election."
