District of Columbia: D.C. Lottery making winners of locals and tourists

Tanya Fowler of Waldorf, MD was in complete awe of her top prize from the $250,000 Blockbuster D.C. scratcher. "When I finished scratching, I felt like I was dreaming," exclaimed the legal secretary. Fowler purchased her winning ticket at Barmy's Wine and Liquor, 1912 L Street, N.W.

Kebede Awalom also won the top prize from the $40,000 Club D.C. scratcher. "This money came just in time," said the Northwest, D.C. resident. "My daughter is in need of a new car!" When Awalom went into JB Liquors, 3914 14th Street, N.W. to play his usual game of POWERBALL, he purchased two scratch tickets. "The first one was the winner. I couldn't believe it!"

Another D.C. Scratcher winner came from Indianapolis, Indiana to attend a convention with her husband. Oneada Crafton, a semi-retired Andy Moore Ford Truck Driver, went to Martin's Wines and Spirits, 1919 Florida Avenue, N.W. to grab a quick drink. "While I was there, I decided to purchase $40,000 Club scratch tickets," she explained. She went to meet up with her husband back at the convention and while on a break, she decided to scratch her tickets. "I had to show my husband just to make sure. I still can't remember how I managed to scribble my signature on it."

POWERBALL remains a favorite for Fort Washington, MD resident Robert Jackson. "I love D.C. Lottery games. I play them all!" said Jackson who purchased his ticket from Capitol Convenient Mart, 3929 South Capitol Street, S.W.

Kim Hoon a Virginia resident was at a loss for words after winning $12,000 from playing D.C. Keno purchased from Raymond's Liquor, 3037 Naylor Road, S.E. on April 16.
