UPPER MARLBORO, MD - The old school California funk/jazz/R&B/Latin band "War" will make a special guest performance during this year's Second Annual Metropolitan International Jazz Festival Thursday, August 30 through Saturday, September 1.
After an overwhelmingly enthusiastic decision to return to Prince George's County, this year, instead of just two days of an exciting entertainment line-up of star studded jazz artists, the Metropolitan International Jazz Festival will encompass three concert nights.
Additional artists scheduled to appear at the Show Place Arena stage Labor Day Weekend include Bobbie Caldwell, Ramsey Lewis and Mindi Abair. Also performing are Isaac Hayes, Jeffery Osborne and Norman Brown's Summer Storm starring Peabo Bryson, Jeff Lorber and the passionate horn of Paul Taylor, who will replace Marion Meadows.
In addition, evening "Jam Sessions" will take place earlier in the week beginning Tuesday, August 28. On the night of the concerts, jam sessions immediately follow the last performance. All sessions will take place at the University of Maryland University College Inn & Conference Center, in College Park, the host hotel for the jazz festival.
