Dear Gwendolyn:
Two months ago I came home and my wife had not cleaned the house or prepared dinner. She became a full-time housewife when she was laid off from her factory assembly job of 22 years. I indicated to her that I saw no reason why chores had not been done. Since being off work she spends every waking hour on the computer. Shortly after that incident, my neighbor told me that my wife and his wife had met someone by going into one of those chat rooms. Last week he filed for divorce.
I told my wife that if she continued to spend her time in chat rooms, I would also leave. Gwendolyn, there are so many women (who were once good women) are breaking up their marriage for some stranger in cyberspace. What advice can you give? I love my wife, but I don't intend to work and be ignored at home. She gives me no affection.
Henry
Dear Henry:
Were you giving her any? Let me tell you this: Most men lose their wife mainly due to lack of attention. However, I must admit that some women have no morals and show no shame for what they do. Although in your situation, your wife is probably suffering from boredom. When a housewife is faced with nothing to do other than being an object for her husband, she can slip into a phase of drinking and doing drugs. Her life is too empty. Because your wife had a job for 22 years, you must help her through this transition. When you spend your life as a factory worker, your skills are only trained to that particular task. Other fields are different - such as a nurse, teacher, executive (lower level or top management.
Once she has a new career, the addiction to Internet surfing should be resolved. When a woman leaves home without a hug and a kiss, or just a sweet whisper in the ear, she's game.
Men make a practice of complimenting a married woman in hopes that her life has much to be desired. But now there is another flirt. Yes, Mr. Cyberspace as he may be called. No, it's not a physical relationship, but to a woman a kind word can make her day. Think about it. In this high technology age, to become engulfed into a man's charm, all she has to do is create a password ---and click.

It's absurd to place so much blame on the husband for not giving proper attention to the woman. There may be nothing wrong with developing an obsession with anonymous chatting if it's a transitional phase i. (Continued…)
