IRS wants receipts for tithes, offerings

The next time you toss cash into the church collection plate, you might want to ask the usher for a receipt. New federal rules for the 2007 tax year which took effect Jan. 1, forbid tax deductions for charitable donations unless the taxpayer can prove the donation through receipts or other official financial records.

Muslim taxi drivers say no to alcohol and dogs

Airport officials in the Twin Cities are trying to crack down on Muslim taxi drivers who refuse to carry passengers traveling with alcohol or dogs, according to a spokesman for the Metropolitan Airports Commission. A commission subcommittee recently decided to recommend public hearings on a policy that would suspend the licenses of drivers who refused service.
